KIS Mangart – Slovenian Potato Variety

The Agricultural Institute of Slovenia has over 30 years of tradition in developing its own potato varieties. Since the launch of the breeding programme in 1993, we have developed 12 registered varieties, with several additional hybrids currently undergoing evaluation. Our varieties are known for their excellent culinary quality, disease resistance, and adaptability. KIS Mangart continues this successful line, with a focus on high performance under challenging growing conditions and sustainable farming systems.
Description of the KIS Mangart Variety
KIS Mangart is a medium-late potato variety developed through the long-standing breeding programme of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, which focuses on selecting varieties adapted to local growing conditions. It performs well on various soil types, including lighter soils, due to its good drought tolerance.
KIS Mangart produces numerous round to oval tubers of medium thickness, with an attractive shape and yellow flesh. The tubers do not darken after cooking, making them highly suitable for multiple culinary uses including boiling, roasting, and baking. The skin is smooth and thin, which facilitates easy preparation.
Thanks to its very high and stable yields and complete resistance to Potato virus Y (PVY), KIS Mangart is a highly reliable choice for both professional growers and home gardeners.
