Workshop on Technology Transfer and Commercialisation of Research Results

On 24 February 2026, the National Institute of Biology, in collaboration with the National Institute of Chemistry, organised a workshop for researchers focused on technology transfer and the commercialisation of research results.

The event brought together researchers from the National Institute of Chemistry, the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute, and the National Institute of Biology, along with representatives from the Chamber ofCommerce and Industry of Slovenia and the University of Ljubljana. Participants listened with great interest to guests from UNICO Analytics – Vojtech Nosek, Vojtech Kadlec, and Alexandru Sirois – who shared their experiences, practical advice, and examples of both successful and less successful practices in navigating the often complex processes of transferring research outcomes to the market.

The workshop provided valuable insights into the challenges of knowledge commercialisation and encouraged open discussion on how research organisations can more effectively support their researchers in protecting and marketing intellectual property.

Although the programme started with a one-hour delay, this also highlighted the high level of interest and the lack of sufficient time and space for systematic exchange of experiences in knowledge transfer among researchers. The event thus further confirmed the importance of such gatherings and the need for their regular organisation.
