From Innovation to Rights: Employee Inventions

You are invited to attend the online lecture From Innovation to Rights: Employee Inventions, which will take place on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

How are the rights and obligations of inventors and employers regulated when an invention is made in the course of employment? When is an invention considered an employee invention, and what is the procedure for reporting it?

The lecture will provide an overview of the legal framework governing employee inventions and the key aspects of the relationship between the inventor and the employer. We will explore the rights and obligations of both parties, the procedure for reporting an invention, and the possibilities for its exploitation. Particular attention will be given to practical issues and the most common questions encountered by employees, researchers, and employers when dealing with such inventions.

Attendance is free of charge, but prior registration is required here.

The lecture will be delivered by Eva Gostiša, Partner at Jadek & Pensa Law Firm, whose practice focuses primarily on intellectual property law. Her professional work includes the protection and enforcement of trademark and design rights, as well as the enforcement of patent rights in court proceedings. She also has extensive experience in employee inventions, copyright law, and unfair competition, advising and representing clients in disputes in these areas.
