From Idea to Protection: Intellectual Property in Practice / workshop
The workshop on intellectual property will take place on 28 May at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia.
When companies develop new products, services, or processes, the question of intellectual property often arises too late.
What is worth protecting?
When is the right time?
And which mistakes can quickly become costly?
This workshop is designed for companies that want to understand the fundamentals of intellectual property and the concrete steps for protection – from inventions to trademarks and designs.
In the first part, we will present the key forms of intellectual property, their importance for businesses, and how to establish basic processes for managing innovation within a company.
In the second part, we will focus on the practical aspects of protection – how procedures work, what costs to expect, and what to pay special attention to before filing.
Special emphasis will be placed on practical examples and experiences of companies that already actively use intellectual property as part of their development.
The workshop is part of the broader series “Intellectual Property in Practice”, which we are developing together with partners in 2026. A follow-up will take place in autumn with two additional modules, where we will explore intellectual property in collaborative R&D projects as well as more advanced topics from practice.
The event is organised by: Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, University of Ljubljana, Slovenian Intellectual Property Office, Jadek & Pensa Law Firm
When: 28th May 2026
Where: Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Dimičeva street 13, Ljubljana (Hall C – 1st Floor)
