University of Primorska and MELOQ AB Join Forces to Advance Medical Device Innovation
At the beginning of 2022, the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Primorska (UP FVZ) partnered with the Swedish company MELOQ AB, a leading firm in medical devices and precision measurement technologies. Together, they embarked on a significant project aimed at conducting validated clinical studies to improve the functionality of existing measuring devices and develop new technologically advanced products.
MELOQ AB provided the Faculty of Health Sciences with the measurement equipment necessary to carry out the agreed clinical studies. In return, the faculty took on the task of testing and evaluating the devices in real clinical environments. Using this equipment, UP FVZ collected valuable data on device performance that will benefit both the improvement of MELOQ’s existing products and the development of new innovations. Additionally, where appropriate, the faculty will provide feedback on future MELOQ products and assess their functionality and usability.
The Center for Development and Knowledge Transfer at the University of Primorska’s Faculty of Management played a key role in this success story by effectively connecting the two partners. With its extensive experience in knowledge transfer and industry collaboration, the center facilitated the establishment of contact between the Faculty of Health Sciences and MELOQ AB, enabling a smooth start to the cooperation. Through its mediation, the center ensured efficient collaboration and provided support throughout all project phases.
The outcome of this collaboration is the execution of multiple clinical studies testing MELOQ’s measuring devices. These devices will enable more precise monitoring of patients’ health, contributing to improvements in diagnostic procedures and therapeutic solutions. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Health Sciences gains valuable experience in testing medical equipment and enhances its recognition in the international community.
This collaboration is an excellent example of how academic institutions and industry partners can join forces to develop advanced solutions for the healthcare sector. With the support of the Center for Development and Knowledge Transfer, the partnership between UP FVZ and MELOQ AB was successfully realized, paving the way for future projects and innovations.
