Award for best paper – 19th International Technology Transfer Conference (ITTC)

At the 19th International Technology Transfer Conference (ITTC) in Novo mesto, Vesna Pungerčar, Kusai Almahamid, Karel Cerovšek, Jakob Fabjan and Slavko Arh from the Rudolfovo Science and Technology Centre in Novo mesto demonstrated what technology transfer looks like in practice through an autonomous quality inspection system implemented in a manufacturing environment. Their work earned them the award for Best paper in the professional contributions section dedicated to technology transfer.

The paper was presented at the conference by Vesna Pungerčar. It highlighted the importance of quality inspection in small-scale manufacturing, where manual approaches are time-consuming and can be significantly improved by combining artificial intelligence, robotics and 3D scanning. At the Rudolfovo Centre, the solution was developed in collaboration with the companies CNC Borštnar d.o.o. and 3D-ING d.o.o., demonstrating good practice in cooperation between researchers and industry.

The presentation not only earned the award but also made a valuable contribution to the conference discussions, which focused on how to turn a research idea into a solution that meets the needs of businesses and can be put into practice. The conference took place on 7 October in the atrium of the Miran Jarc Library in Novo mesto.

Congratulations to all the award recipients!
