At the Institute for Social Studies at the Science and Research Centre Koper, they understand that the integration of migrant women is not just a matter of language or employment. It is a complex process that requires sensitivity to gender and cultural differences, as well as an awareness of the everyday challenges migrants face.

Through participation in numerous international projects, the researchers have gained valuable insights into how to approach integration in a way that leads to real success — not only for the women involved, but for society as a whole.

In collaboration with the Municipality of Koper and the Multigenerational Centre Morje, they translated their findings into practice. By organizing meetings and workshops, they created a safe space for sharing experiences, building confidence, and forging connections with the local community. The women had the opportunity not only to learn the language and systems, but to actively co-create their new community.

This story shows that integration is most successful when it becomes a dialogue — respectful, open, and focused on a shared future.
